, Fr. Matt became our Rector in January of 2007. An
Albertville
native, Matt grew up in the
Methodist
Church
and became an Episcopalian shortly after college. He was confirmed by The Rt. Rev. Henry N. Parsley Jr. at
Christ
Church
in
Tuscaloosa
, and was ordained by Bp. Parsley there only 5 years later. Previously, Matt served as Associate Rector of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Birmingham,
Alabama
. He is married to Jennifer and they have two daughters, Madison (6) and Margot (18 mos). Matt is passionate about "spiritual development" which he defines as how we become more like Christ. In addition to his parish duties, Matt serves as Head Spiritual Director for the Happening movement in the Diocese of Alabama and also on the Diocesan Ecumenical Council.
